The last week in January saw the worlds largest education technology show, BETT at the London ExCel exhibition centre, and once again we were at the show with a range of exciting new technology. If you made it to the show, it was great to see you but if you didn't make it to the show, fear not, here are all the details about what you missed!
ll the School Radio studio packages at the show featured the brand new Myriad 5 Playout system. Whilst Myriad 5 is still a few months away from full release, we were delighted to preview the many new features that will help School Radio stations around the UK. Highlights include:
Myriad 5 was really popular on the stand with everyone agreeing the new simplified workflows, optimised for School Radio will make running a School Radio station easier than ever!
First up was a new name and new look for the 'Classic' package now called the Starter+ Package. The Starter+ features the new SRMv2 mixer as well as Myriad 5 and all the new School Radio resources. You can have the Starter+ installed in your school from just £4999+vat.
Also on the stand were the Starter Package and the SR3 Portable Plus.
The Starter Package offers our most cost effective School Radio solution allowing you to build and launch your own School Radio station for as little as £3499+ vat.
The SR3 has been one of our best selling solutions for many years. It offers a complete, self contained and portable School Radio studio ideal for schools where space is at a premium. We had a striking, bright orange SR3 on the stand but if you are after something a little bit more sedate it is available in a range of tasteful (and some not so tasteful) colours! Get an SR3 installed in your school from £7499+vat.
This year, we were also joined on the stand by our colleagues from University Radio with their new UR7 studio package designed to provide a fully authentic environment for full time broadcasters or the delivery of broadcast radio & journalism courses.
The UR7 is an example of a bespoke University Radio studio solution. You could have a similar solution in your School or College for around £15499+vat

One of the new technologies on display on our stand this year was the new SmartSign studio signage system.
SmartSign is designed for use in radio studios to display key information to presenters and guests such as the time and the status of critical equipment such as the microphones.
On the stand we had three different implementations of SmartSign to show just how flexible it is. The standard studio sign configuration above shows the presenters the time (in several time zones) as well as warning them when the microphones are active.
Studio guests also got their own mini 7" SmartSign to warn them when their microphones were switched on!
Finally, we used a SmartSign running on a 10" Windows Tablet to provide a futuristic control interface for the Myriad 5 Playout system.
SmartSign is available now and is compatible with all School Radio studio packages.
For more details visit the SmartSign page on our Broadcast Radio website.
Another new addition to our lineup at the show is the School Radio User Guide, our glossy 196 page guide to setting up and using your School Radio studio package.
The School Radio Studio User Guide covers everything from what the knobs on your mixer does to how to use the software to create radio programs.
The guide can be downloaded in digital format, free of charge by everyone or you can order your own, full colour hardback copy for £30.
